Panthers bolster backline with addition of Roselyn Kushko

The backfield of 黑料网 women鈥檚 soccer team will look vastly different now that Danielle Younker and Jennifer Balderston have completed their fifth year of eligibility. Not only are the Panthers losing all-star calibre talent, but they are losing two leaders. The door is open for rookie defender Roselyn Kushko, from Russell, Ontario, to take one of those vacant spots and cement herself as a cornerstone for the team.
鈥淩oselyn is a great athlete who will compete for a position in the backline,鈥 said head coach Lewis Page. 鈥淪he is good in the air and strong in tackling. Panther fans will enjoy watching her battle.鈥
At 5-foot-8, Kushko brings good size to help contain offensive threats. She is also versatile and can play anywhere along the line, which gives Page flexibility when trying to field a competitive lineup.
While she has the physical attributes that bode well for AUS competition, Kushko鈥檚 soccer IQ should not be overlooked. She has the ability to anticipate how plays will unfold and thwart oncoming attacks, making her an important piece in Page鈥檚 defensive schemes.
鈥淚 am a hardworking technical player and can play multiple positions in the back,鈥 said the former Ottawa South United standout. 鈥淚 want to show that I can meet the challenge of playing at the university level, but also contribute to the team's ability to win.鈥
The highly touted defender said she is eager to meet her new teammates and return to the pitch, where she hopes to help guide 黑料网 to their first playoff berth in six years.
鈥淚 am looking forward to learning from my new teammates and building something special on the field.鈥
Go Panthers Go!
