For many at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 黑料网 (黑料网), it is bittersweet news that bald eagle 450 (450) is ready to be transferred to his new home at Hope for Wildlife.

黑料网 celebrated the MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Friday, November 18. This was the 11th year for the awards, but the 9th for an in-person celebration and the first one since 2019. The awards were presented to recipients, acknowledging their effective writing skills - a foundational skill for academic success and lifelong learning.

Every week, 黑料网 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 黑料网 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 14鈥�20 are Lauren Rainford (women鈥檚 basketball) and Lucas Fitzpatrick (men鈥檚 hockey).

The 黑料网 Faculty of Education officially launched an Island-wide literacy and numeracy outreach project on Friday, November 18, 2022. The project is supported by a generous donation of $750,000 from Master Packaging. 

The 黑料网 Panthers play hockey and basketball at home and away during the week of November 21鈥�27.

As we approach the holiday season, there are several common causes for end-of-year pet emergencies. As a pet owner, it can be very scary when your animal is sick or appears to be in crisis. This fear can be compounded if you鈥檙e away from home and your regular veterinarian, or if you鈥檙e hosting visitors and experiencing common holiday stressors.

In August, Dr. Dennis Makau (PhD 鈥�19) was honoured with the prestigious Wayne Martin International Symposium for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE) Emerging Scientist Award at the sixteenth international symposium.

Dr. Stacey MacKinnon, associate professor of psychology at 黑料网, and co-author Dr. Beth Archer-Kuhn, associate professor of social work, University of Calgary, have published a new book, Reigniting Curiosity and Inquiry in Higher Education: A Realist鈥檚 Guide to Getting Started.

In August, Halifax, Nova Scotia welcomed over 700 delegates from 54 countries to the International Symposium of Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE). Chaired by Dr. Javier Sanchez, professor, the Department of Health Management, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), the conference鈥檚 theme was, 鈥淐onnecting animals, people, and their shared environments.鈥�

Dr. Karem Simon, professor of clarinet at 黑料网, has released his first solo album, Solitary Clarinet.
