The week of October 24鈥30 is another busy one for the 黑料网 Panthers as they take on opponents at home and away.
The first-ever interprofessional simulation lab, involving 黑料网 nursing students and Holland College paramedicine students, took place on September 23, 2022, at the 黑料网 Faculty of Nursing in the Health Sciences Building. Fourth-year Nursing 4010 Population Health students and second-year Holland College Advanced Care Paramedicine students, as well as faculty and staff, came together for the day to engage in interprofessional simulated learning with the overall goal of increasing understanding and awareness about the scope, roles, and responsibilities of each profession.
Every week, 黑料网 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 黑料网 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 17鈥23 are Emily Duffy (women鈥檚 rugby) and Kyle Maksimovich (men鈥檚 hockey). Both athletes were also named Subway Atlantic University Sport women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 Athletes of the Week.
The 黑料网 Women's Rugby Panthers beat the St. FX X-Women 14-12 on October 20 to clinch a spot in the final against the Acadia Axewomen on Wednesday, October 26, in Wolfville at 6 pm.
黑料网鈥檚 Chief Information Officer Dana Sanderson updated the University community on the 黑料网 Network Modernization Project in messages to students, faculty, and staff this October, which is Cybersecurity Month.
For the first time since 2018, the 黑料网 Field Hockey Panthers have won the Atlantic University Field Hockey League championship, defeating Saint Mary's in the final 3-0.
The 黑料网 Men鈥檚 Basketball Panthers accomplished many firsts in 2021鈥22 under Darrell Glenn鈥檚 leadership. The team finished with their best record in five years, fielded an all-star, and earned a playoff spot, then went on to play in the AUS conference finals.
Each month, the 黑料网 Experiential Education department hosts an 鈥淎fternoon of Service鈥 whereby a group of students spends an afternoon at a local organization, learning about it and participating in hands-on volunteer activities such as planting trees, harvesting crops, socializing with seniors, and assisting with events. The department is currently seeking organizations that would appreciate volunteer help and are willing to partner with 黑料网 for this initiative.
The 黑料网 community is saddened to learn of the passing of 黑料网 professor emerita, the Honourable Doris Margaret Anderson, CM, of St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI, aged 100 years.
The Institute of Island Studies at 黑料网 will host a public lecture titled 鈥淎nticosti: Metropolitan Finisterre鈥 on October 25 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
